STATEMENT FROM CBTU PRESIDENT REV. TERRENCE MELVN

Coalition of Black Trade Unionist President Terrence Melvin issued the following statement upon learning of the death of Washington Teachers’ Union President Elizabeth Davis:

CBTU sends it condolences to the family of Elizabeth Davis, the Washington Teachers Union (WTU), and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).  Liz was a true trade unionist who will always be remembered and celebrated.

As an educator for more than 20 years, Liz made an impression on numerous lives and brought respect to her profession by prioritizing the needs students and the voices of teachers. She did her job and lived her life with a smile, and with hope and fierceness for the city’s schools, its kids and her members. CBTU mourn her sudden passing and we will keep her family, friends and loved ones in our thoughts, and prayers.
