No to Crystal Carey
CBTU objects to the nomination of Crystal Carey as NLRB General Counsel
Once again, this government has taken another leap against workers and their rights by nominating Crystal Carey from Morgan Lewis as NLRB General Counsel. There is not an individual more anti-worker and anti-union than Crystal Carey and no firm has a stronger anti-union case load than Morgan Lewis. Tone deaf to the needs of the working class, this administration continues to try and circumvent and undermine our labor laws by appointing cronies to deconstruct and destabilize the institutions they are put in charge of.
Ms. Carey has an ugly history of working for and on behalf of corporate interests, especially when serving as counsel during negotiations. Her career is littered with some of the most notorious anti-worker firms like Apple and Amazon and her positions at the bargaining table have been offensive and degrading to the workers she is negotiating against. Her reputation is built on breaking the will of working people and doing everything in her power to weaken unions and their voice.
Morgan Lewis is a notoriously anti-union law firm that markets itself to corporations as the right people to break unions and ensure contracts are horrible. Crystal Carey has been a leader in the firm for accomplishing such acts. It was her leadership at the Philadelphia Museum of Art that resulted in a 19-day strike. It has been her role as lead chair at Resilience Labs that has led to multiple Unfair Labor Practices being filed against the employer. Wherever she goes, workers are oppressed. Therefore, we must stop her from getting to the NLRB.
CBTU continues to oppose all anti-worker/anti-labor nominations of this administration and its position against working people and their unions. From trying to dismantle AFGE to nominating anti-union people to the NLRB this administration hates those that keep this country running. CBTU calls on our elected officials to refute this nomination and stands with our union siblings in joint opposition.
